Slovensko - Week 18 in Trenčín (some names changed for privacy)

MY LAST WEEK IN TRENčíN, SLOVAKIA
So we started off the week at Bojnice zoo last week as was seen in last weeks pictures. Then, we went to Aknaj's again. She said that she would continue to read the Book of Mormon so I hope that she continues on with that!
Czechs and Slovaks are so cute! Everytime you go into one of their houses they offer you slippers - house slippers - that you are supposed to wear when you are inside. You literally don't know who else's feet have been in them but hope for the best! hahaha Anyways, Aknaj didn't have any big enough for me so she let me use some knit ones that are "stretchy" (picture included ;)).
Then we went to Sister Križanová's and had a little grilovanie or barbeque with Slovak sausages.
And we had the makings for s'mores... so we made those too! It was so nice.
Lower left, Starsi Goddard enjoying a s'more in Slovakia!
Today I turned 21... so weird! Anyway, Sister Farnsworth made me a lemon cake yesterday while I was packing. How sweet of her!

I am now moved to Třebíč and am with Sister Longhurst! I'm so excited to see what this transfer brings!
With Sestra Longhurst, my new companion

I love you all so much! I hope you have a great week! Mám vás ráda!

Slovensko - Week 17 in Trenčín (some names changed for privacy)

This week we had zone training! We talked about how we can be more ''celestial missionaries''. It was so good! We learned so much on how we can perfect ourselves and be the best we can.

Enjoying the Slovakian food in Trencin
The most typical Slovak national food is Bryndzové Halušky with bacon. This is made from potato dough mixed with a special kind of sheep cheese – bryndza – that tastes best in the so called cottages of shepherds or mountain chalets. The dish is topped by fried bacon.

On Monday, we went and did service for a lady named Aknaj. She has nicknamed me Heidi - because the first time we met I had two braids in - She's so cute. We ended up cleaning some of her windows... which weren't really that dirty but it was fun. We invited her to read the first chapter in the Book of Mormon, so we're excited to see how that went.
On Saturday we had sports night and because we currently aren't allowed to play contact or team sports in our mission - people have been breaking bones lately... - we played basketball lightning with two younger boys, one of them was really good! He and Elder Petersen won most of the rounds. It was so much fun! Shooting hoops is great :)
Today, we went to Bojnice, which is a beautiful castle we went to last transfer - still haven't gone in though ;) and we went to the zoo again! So many animals!!! It was so much fun! I love this district! This week is the last one of the transfer! Find out next week where I'll be!

I love you all! Mám vás ráda! Have an amazing week!

Slovensko - Week 16 in Trenčín (some names changed for privacy)

This week, we met such a cool guy! We still haven't met with him but his name is Vatsug and we met him on the street. We talked about the importance of prophets and scriptures, so he gave us his number and told us he was busy but to try sometime. Miracles happen though! The next day, we went over to one of our slightly less-active's house, Sister Acorotkod who is such a sweet lady and we decided to bring over some banana bread muffins. We rang on her doorbell and Vatsug came out! I think he's either a cousin or her son. He's in Poland right now though for work because he travels a lot, but he said that he should be able to meet this week. We're so excited!

We also went to visit Sister Avokčíntes's house, she doesn't really come to church because she's older and has heart problems, but we went over and she gave us a bunch of clothes to donate.

We also had Zasvätenie, the Slovak anniversary of it's dedication for the church which was so amazing! We helped the members prep for it for two days out of our week. First cutting papers, laminating, and gluing, and then the second time cutting onions, garlic, peeling potatoes, and the elders cut lots of meat for guláš!

Zasvätenie was so good though, all of the Slovak members had the chance to come as well as some non-members, friends of the church here and listen to testimonies, some talks. and just converse with each other. It was beautiful. We hiked up Brezina, a hill here in Trenčín, and were in the forest!

Mother's day was also wonderful! Getting to see my family was so nice! I loved it!

I hope you all have an amazing week! Always look for the little things, the little blessings! They're there! <3

Slovensko - Week 15 in Trenčín (some names changed for privacy)

So this week has been a lot of walking outside, lots of contacting and lots of tracting. So this next week we're going to try and change things up a bit to make sure we don't become rote as we try to find more people, I'll tell you all about the things we try next week probably :)

But we also had America Night. We made flyers, we gave them out to all of our less-active members, to people on the streets, to people we know here in Trenčín. We made food, and prepared games. But, I guess the Lord wanted us to have some bonding time with our members because they were literally the only ones who came! We still had a lot of fun. They liked the treats we had made, and they loved the little questions we had prepared for a jeopardy game with them. All in all, we decided it was a success even we would have loved to have had more people there.

This next week we have something called zasvätenie, which is the anniversary of the dedication of Slovakia for the church. It's going to be so good. We're excited!

I love you all so much and hope you have an amazing week!

Pictures are from the outskirts of Trenčín castle. :)
